2B Weed: Abundant in
Montana and widespread in many
counties. It is a
perennial, living two or more
years with an extensive root
system. Plant was introduced
into the United States as an
ornamental in the 1800s and is
still distributed in many
wildflower mixes (so don't
purchase the seed mixes, report
them to the Dept. of Ag.) Control:
Hand pulling/digging, herbicide
and mowing. There is a new
potential bioligical weed
control agent, a root boring
moth that is being tested for
approval.
