![]() Sari looking at a whitetop plant whitetop (Cardaria draba, Lepidiuim draba) Priority 2B
Weed: Abundant in
Montana and widespread in
many counties.
It is toxic to cattle, has an extensive root system and is a perennial. Whitetop is generally one of the earliest noxious weeds to come up in the spring (May). Seeds remain viable for 4-years and roots can reach depths of 6-feet. Control: Cultivation, mowing and herbicide and a newly released flower mite. ![]() Info and photo
from: mtweed.org.
My Whitehall Project is releasing and rearing the newly approved mite that has good potential as a biological control agent. We are excited about this mite! --Todd |
