cabbage white butterfly
Pieris rapae

The upperside is creamy white with black tips on the forewings. Females also have two black spots in the center of the forewings. Its underwings are yellowish with black speckles. It is sometimes mistaken for a moth due to its plain appearance. The wingspan of adults is roughly 32–47 mm (1.3–1.9 in).
The species has a natural range across Europe, Asia, and North Africa.[4] It was accidentally introduced to Quebec, Canada, around 1860 and spread rapidly throughout North America.[5] The species has spread to all North American life zones from Lower Austral/Lower Sonoran to Canada.[6] Estimates show that a single female of this species might be the progenitor in a few generations of millions.[7][8] It is absent or scarce in desert and semidesert regions (except for irrigated areas). It is not found north of Canadian life zone, nor on Channel Islands off the coast of southern California. By 1898, the small white had spread to Hawaii; by 1929, it had reached New Zealand[9] and the area around Melbourne, Australia, and found its way to Perth as early as 1943. It does not seem to have made it to South America.  From: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pieris_rapae

BRITTANY PUPPIES       Past Litters     Back to Montana Butterflies Litter

10-12-20: (7 weeks old)  3,698g.  The pups were pretty good about stacking today.  A few "humped up" a bit.  They are really a fun bunch out in the back yard!!

1-5-20:  2,946g.  I took this weeks photos by myself with the timer on the camera so, some are better than others...  The pups are growing up rapidly!

9-28-20:  2,462g.  Most of the pups are starting to be developed enough to "sort of" stack.  They are starting to play together and develop personalities.

9-21-20:  1,888g.  The pups are developing well but not enough yet to stack (stand in a show pose) well.  They are just starting to become really fun and some local kids have been over to play with them.

9-14-20:  1,456g.  They are becoming more active but are still quite chubby.

9-7-20:  1,144g.  They are chubby and sassy!  They are getting stronger every day!

8-31-20:  648g.
Sorry, these photos lost due to a camera glitch...

1. Cabbie, Female with the most white.  Birth wt.: 286g.
