Updates:  Refresh this page for the most current updates.
-Six pups whelped on Monday July 13th, 2020 between 5:45 am - 8:10 am.
7-15-20: Tails, dew claws and vet check.  Ace and Dart have natural bob tails.  Ace still needed his docked, Dart's was just the right length so only had his dew claws done.
7-22: the 7-20 photos and weights are posted.
7-27: Photos and weights are posted.  Things are proceeding normally.  They are quite chubby.
8-3:  Photos and wts. posted.  Turah ate something out of the garden (we think) that made her ill for 2 days.  The pups weight gain slowed a bit.  I almost had to start bottle feeding them, then Turah quickly recovered and all appears normal again.
8-10:  Photos and wts. posted.  The pups are doing well and are very active.  They are starting to eat blended puppy chow and still nursing.
8-17:  Photos and wts. posted.  The pups are spending more time outdoors and are becoming very playful!  If you can, it is worth a trip to see them.  I will be gone from Tue. 8-25 until Sun. 8-30 at the field trial.  The pups will be in Ennis at a pro handlers place.
8-24: posted weights but, did not have time for photos because of chairing the MTBC field trial near Winnett.
8-31-20: Photos and weights posted.
9-1-20: Volhard puppy test went well.  The results are posted.  Male pup deposit holders need to pick pups and can pick up on or after Sunday.  Female deposit holders need to wait until the structural evaluation on Sunday or Monday to pick pups and pick up pups.
-It was really nice to see Oudi at the field trial.  He placed in a stake!-
9-2: Todd will be sage grouse and hun hunting in the am.  Shot my limit with Dancer.
9-3: Vet check, wormed and 1st shots.  All good...

-The Volhard puppy aptitude test is complete [on 9-1-20 at 10am] (Todd was chairing a field trial near Winnett just before this) Male deposit holders can now choose in order of deposit date.
-All pups can go home 9-7-20, after the structural evaluation.
-
9-7-20: Structural Evaluation.  Female deposit holders can choose as soon as this structural evaluation is complete.  Todd will contact you.

Military Tactical Stimulation – for young pups.
Tactical stimulation (between toes)

Head held erect

Head pointed down

Supine position
Thermal stimulation

Tactile stimulation

  1. Tactile stimulation - holding the pup in one hand, the handler gently stimulates (tickles) the pup between the toes on any one foot using a Q-tip. It is not necessary to see that the pup is feeling the tickle. Time of stimulation 3 - 5 seconds. (Figure 1)
  2. Head held erect - using both hands, the pup is held perpendicular to the ground, (straight up), so that its head is directly above its tail. This is an upwards position. Time of stimulation 3 - 5 seconds. (Figure 2)
  3. Head pointed down - holding the pup firmly with both hands the head is reversed and is pointed downward so that it is pointing towards the ground. Time of stimulation 3 - 5 seconds. (Figure 3)
  4. Supine position - hold the pup so that its back is resting in the palm of both hands with its muzzle facing the ceiling. The pup while on its back is allowed to sleep. Time of stimulation 3-5 seconds. (Figure 4)
  5. Thermal stimulation—use a damp towel that has been cooled in a refrigerator for at least five minutes. Place the pup on the towel, feet down. Do not restrain it from moving. Time of stimulation 3-5 seconds.

"Oudi came to us from Sherry Larsen in Clovis, California. He has a truly effervescent personality--for Oudi every day is a great day and his enthusiasm for life is infectious. His name, which is pronounced "out-ee", is for the famous escape artist Harry Houdini (hOUDIni). On his first day with us Oudi managed to escape his x-pen, crate and climb over two baby gates. It took us awhile to decide on a name for him, but "Under Lock and Key" seems to suit him perfectly. Oudi went to summer camp with Ed Tillson of Tequila Kennels in the summer of 2013 and, fortunately for us, Ed had the patience and the expertise to recognize Oudi's potential. With Ed, Oudi picked up multiple derby placements and after a respite at home to finish his show title, Oudi came on strong in adult stakes in 2016. He kicked off the fall with multiple adult placements in big, competitive stakes. He finished his DC title with a 2nd place in the Grand Open Limited Gun Dog Stake at the Iowa Brittany Club in 2017. Since then Oudi has become a strong contender in the Midwest field trial circuit. He won the ABC Gun Dog Classic in May of 2018 and completed the year by winning the 2018 Garmin Award, which recognizes the top Brittany shooting dog in the country!

In the show ring Oudi won Best Puppy at his first show which happened to be the Iowa Brittany Club Specialty. He's been to the ABC National Specialty three times and placed in a lovely 6-9 month puppy class in 2012, the open dog class the following year and the field trial dog class in 2016. He finished his show championship in June of 2014 in twelve shows with three majors."

Note from Todd:  I saw Oudi win the Open Gun Dog at our Montana Brittany Club field trial in August, 2018.  He is pictured on page 12 of the September '18 edition of the American Brittany Club magazine winning the ABC Gun Dog Classic/Shooting Dog Championship with 5 finds!  That shows me he is a real Bird Finding Machine!
