UpdatesRefresh this page for the most current updates.
5-25-23: Whelping occurred during the afternoon/evening of May 24th, 2023.  She took her time and all went well.  Five males and 3 females.  All are gaining weight well.  Tail/dew claws removal is scheduled Friday the 26th. Males: 2 natural bob tails.  Females: 2 nb tails.
5-26-23: Tail docking and dew claws went fine.  Three of the nb tails needed further docking.  They are not very happy right now but have settled down.  I will be calling deposit holders this evening and tomorrow to confirm.
5-28-23: Well, this is embarrassing...  Huey is actually female so is now called Spirit.
5-29-23: All the pups are doing well.  The 2nd choice female pup folks stopped by to visit the pups today. :^)

5-31-23: Weekly weights and photos taken today.  All are doing very well!
6-10-23: 'Finally posted all the photos.  We had trouble with lighting and had to redo them.  The pups are growing well and Belle is being a super Mom!  Their eyes are just starting to open.  All they seem to do is eat and sleep.
6-14-23: The pups are great.  Weights posted.  I am quite tired from collecting toadflax stem boring weevils in Missoula, Clinton and up Rock Cr. today so will work on photos tomorrow.
6-17-23: I finally had the time to finish posting the photos.
6-21-23: The weekly weights are posted.  We will do photos tomorrow as I taught a noxious weed class in Ennis and after work took Dune buggy-bug to Clancy so a friend can take her to the Billings shows.  Long day...
6-23-23: 'Finally posted all the photos.  This is a nice looking litter!

6-28-23: Photos and weights are posted.  The pups are starting to get puppy chow now and are quite active.  Dune Bug earned 4 more points at the Billings shows.  She is 2pts. away from her championship.  She is off to summer camp near Circle, MT with Ed Tillson and Jessica Carlson.  She will be at the Great Falls shows in two weeks.
7-6-23: All the photos and weights are posted.  The pups are doing well and enjoying their time outdoors as much as possible.  The Volhard test is set for 10 am Wed. July 12th.  Male deposit holders may begin picking as soon as the results are posted and may pick up pups on the 19th.  Female deposit holders must wait until I pick on the 19th and may pick up their pup as soon as it is their turn to pick.
7-12-23:  2pm.  Volhard results are posted.  The vet check will be in an hour.  We will do photos this evening so the first choice male folks will have until the evening of the 13th to pick.  I will list the picks on this and the pups pages in green.  --  Female deposit holders must wait until I pick.  More on that in a few days.
6pm: The vet ck was fine for the females however, would the male deposit holders please call me this evening.  The photos may be posted rather late this evening.  The pups were wormed with pyrantel.
11:30pm: Photos, weights, and Group II photos are complete.

7-21-23: Several of the pups are off to their nice new owners!  The pups had their first 5-way puppy shot on the 14th and are all doing fine.  I am looking forward to seeing you all!!  Please clarify via text or email when you are coming to pick up your pup.  I will be teaching a noxious weed/biological control class Sunday the 23rd in Bozeman all afternoon.

The pups are eating a mixture of: 1) Purina One +Plus High Protein Healthy Puppy Formula, 2) Iams ProActive Health Smart Puppy Chicken and Whole Grain, 3) Iams ProActive Health Smart Puppy Beef, and 4) Victor Active Dog and Puppy Formula Grain-Free.  You will receive a small bag of this mixture to take home and transition them to whatever puppy chow you want.

The pups will undergo Military Tactical Stimulation for young puppies:
Tactile stimulation (between toes)
Head held erect
Head pointed down
Supine position
Thermal stimulation
Explanation:
1. Tactile stimulation - holding pup in one hand, the handler gently stimulates (tickles) the pup between the toes on any one foot using a Q-tip.  It is not necessary to see that the pup is feeling the tickle.  Time of stimulation 3-5 seconds.
2. Head held erect - using both hands, the pup is held perpendicular to the ground (straight up), so that its head is directly above its tail.  Time of stimulation 3-5 seconds.
3. Head pointed down - using both hands, the head is reversed (pointing towards the ground).  Time of stimulation 3-5 seconds.
4. Supine position - hold the pup so that its back is resting in the palms of both hands with its muzzle is facing the ceiling. The pup while on its back is allowed to sleep.  Time of stimulation 3-5 seconds.
5. Thermal stimulation - use a damp towel that has been cooled in a refrigerator for at least 5 minutes.  Place the pup on the towel feel/belly down.  Do not restrain it from moving.  Time of stimulation 3-5 seconds.
Done for the first two weeks of life excluding whelping day and tail docking day.
