"Hot" Hunting

When I really need to carry and conserve water, I take a canteen or more of water and a quart zip lock bag.  I put the water into the bag and let the dogs drink from the bag, spilling almost none [be sure and pre-train your dog how to do this so that they do not balk during a crucial hot hunt!].  What ever the dogs do not drink can be carefully pored back into the canteen (slobbery but usable for the dogs) for later in the hunt.

We carry lots of water in the truck and give them all they will drink before and after all hunts.
