The tails
are not yet docked in these photos. Docking and dew claw removal
is done to keep the dogs from bleeding to death while hunting (nothing
stops a
Brittany from hunting!). While hunting they wag their tails so
hard that they injure them on brush and fences. They can also rip
off a dew claw in heavy cover. Either of these can be life
threatening events for the hard hunting Brittany!
Tails and dew claws are now done. Brittanys have not been called "Brittany
Spaniel" since the 1980's. Warbonnet
